About Maine
Once part of Massachusetts, Maine occupies the northeastern corner of New England, with a heavily forested interior and a rocky Atlantic coastline of harbors, peninsulas, and islands. Acadia National Park covers much of Mount Desert Island, and Mount Katahdin marks the northern end of the Appalachian Trail. Lobster fishing, lighthouses, and wild blueberries are all closely tied to the state’s identity.
