Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement applies to the 16Personalities website (https://www.16personalities.com), including our personality assessment tools, educational content, premium products, and user account features.
Our Commitment to Accessibility
NERIS Analytics Limited is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to achieve these goals.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03), which includes WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We evaluate the site against the newer WCAG 2.2 Level AA criteria, which build on WCAG 2.1, and we are actively working toward full compliance.
Current Accessibility Features
Our website includes the following accessibility features:
- Keyboard navigation: Full keyboard accessibility for all interactive elements using standard navigation patterns
- Skip links: “Skip to main content” and “Skip to accessibility options” links for keyboard users
- Screen reader support: Status messages, loading states, and test progress (such as “Question 5 of 30”) are announced
- ARIA implementation: Robust ARIA markup for dynamic content and complex interactions
- Focus management: Clear focus indicators and logical tab order; dialogs return focus when closed, and in-app navigation moves focus to the new content
- Form accessibility: Properly labeled forms with clear error messages and validation
- Accessible authentication: Signing in uses an emailed one-time code or “magic” link — no passwords to remember or retype
- Accessible charts: Charts across results, reports, and tools are paired with data tables or text descriptions
- Video captions: Video content includes closed captions and an on-page transcript
- Color contrast: A high-contrast option that meets WCAG AA contrast ratios, available to everyone
- Text resize: Content remains readable and functional
- Responsive design: Fully accessible on mobile devices and tablets
- Site map: A site map page listing the main areas of the site, linked from the site footer
- “Accessible styles” mode: Available in user settings with enhanced visibility and additional accessibility features (auto-enabled for keyboard users and from device accessibility settings)
- Alternative formats: Content available in alternative formats upon request via support@16personalities.com
Non-Accessible Content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
Non-compliance with accessibility requirements
We are actively working to address the following issues:
-
Color contrast in the default theme
- Some text and interface colors in the default theme fall below the required contrast ratios. The “Increase contrast” option brings them up to the required ratios and is available to everyone while we improve the default colors.
-
Charts in some articles
- Automatically generated charts in some articles do not yet have a text alternative, such as a data table. Charts elsewhere on the site already provide one.
-
Screen reader announcements and focus after some updates
- “No results” messages in some lists are not automatically announced to screen readers
- After some in-page updates, keyboard focus may stay where it was rather than moving to the updated content
- In the Personality Traits box on results pages, keyboard focus can be lost when the layout shifts at certain screen sizes
Disproportionate burden
Following careful assessment, the following items currently represent a disproportionate burden. We will reassess these items in our July 2027 review:
-
Historical content updates
- Updating 300+ historical articles to include tables of contents and internal navigation
-
Legacy and uncommon tech support
- Testing with screen reader versions older than 3 years
- Supporting browsers older than 1 year
- Supporting dynamic layouts on extremely rare screen sizes
Given the (a) estimated cost, (b) expected number of users affected, (c) impact on core service continuity, addressing all possible issues at this time would impose a disproportionate burden on our organization. However, we are actively working to improve accessibility where feasible.
Content not within scope of applicable legislation
-
User-generated content such as article comments
- While generally accessible, we cannot control the clarity or structure of user-submitted text content. However, we will remove or modify inaccessible user content upon notification.
Preparation of this Statement
This statement was prepared on July 10, 2025 and last reviewed on July 28, 2026.
Accessibility was assessed by self-evaluation, combining automated testing tools, code-level review, manual keyboard navigation testing, and screen reader spot checks. Findings are maintained in an internal WCAG 2.2 conformance report that we update as the site changes.
Next scheduled review: July 2027 and annually thereafter. We also conduct regular internal accessibility audits.

Enforcement Procedure
If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility feedback, you can contact the relevant national enforcement body. Please see the following link for the list of national EU bodies: https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/web-accessibility-monitoring.
Additional Accessibility Measures
We have an “Accessible styles” option in user settings, which is also enabled automatically for guests when navigating through the site using a keyboard. That setting gives the following options:
- Show focus – adds a focus ring, for increased visibility of focused items on a page (enabled automatically while navigating with a keyboard)
- Reduce motion – reduces effects in transitions, scrolling, and other non-essential motion (enabled automatically if your device is set to reduced motion)
- Increase contrast – increases the contrast between text and background colors (enabled automatically if your device is set to high contrast)
Signed-in users can also enable dark mode and customize its colors.
Newer areas of the website use native HTML elements wherever possible. Some automatically generated charts in older articles still lack text alternatives, and the Country Profiles section has not yet been fully brought up to our newer accessibility standards. We aim to address these issues as soon as reasonably possible.
In all areas of the website, we use accessible navigation and input elements, usually with the roving tabs pattern.
Beyond our compliance efforts, we:
- Design with accessibility as a core principle
- Include accessibility testing in our development workflow, including an accessibility review of every code change
- Prioritize accessibility fixes in our development roadmap
- Actively seek feedback from users with disabilities
